The temporary police personnel or “Myadi Prahari”, who were recruited to provide security during the first phase of local elections in Dhading, are in protest after some of them were reportedly assaulted by Nepal Police officers for refusing to go to the Tarai districts for the second phase of the elections slated for June 14.One Rai Sapkota was allegedly detained for protesting the deployment. They visited the District Administration Office on Sunday and filed a complaint against police. In the complaint, they have also accused the police of forcing them into doing non-assigned jobs and denying them allowances. They claimed that they got only Rs 29,000 instead of Rs 51,000 in salary while their lunch and medical allowances were also withheld. DSP Dipendra Panjiyar, meanwhile, refused the allegations. He said that Sapkota was detained for using “foul language”Nine hundred and fifteen temporary police personnel were mobilised in Dhading to guard the polling centres on May 14 elections.
